Key of Return
🇵🇸 Palestine Lives!

Original sticker design by Alyssa Polito

In the 1948 Nakba, or “catastrophe,” Zionist militias forcibly displaced more than 750,000 Palestinians from their homes. Many Palestinians still hold on to the keys of the family homes from which they were displaced since the Nabka. Families continue to pass these “Keys of Return” or “Palestinian Keys” down through the generations as a symbol of resilience, identity, and history.

Artists use these Keys of Return to symbolize the ethnic cleansing the Palestinians have endured and to represent their hope to return to the homeland they have inhabited for centuries.
