Hailey Dominguez
About
Hailey Dominguez is an Afro-Cuban/ Puerto Rican visual artist from the South Bronx. Drawing upon her lived experiences as the child of an incarcerated person, her work is intended to commemorate and provoke further inquiry into prominent figures and scenes of political tension.
Her contributions to this exhibit are intended to highlight the resilience of the Palestinian people, illustrate the emotional and psychological violence inflicted by occupation forces, and demonstrate solidarity with the plight of the Palestinian people in remembrance of the colonial violence inflicted upon Cuba and Puerto Rico by the United States.
Given how interconnected these histories under the brutality of the prison industrial complex, and in the words of Angela Davis, “Solidarity with Palestine must… be taken up by organizations and movements involved in progressive causes around the world. This is preciously the moment to encourage everyone who believes in equality and justice join the call for a free Palestine.” (Davis, 2016)
